What’s more, with a great selection of family-friendly properties available at relatively affordable prices, moving to the city will be kind on your finances as well as your family life.

If you’re considering a move to Cambridge with your kids in tow, here are just some of the things that make the city a great place to bring up children.

Schools

Cambridge is home to a fantastic choice of secondary and primary schools. As @HomesProperty says, “Cambridge is brimming with top-notch private schools and its state sector is of a generally high standard.”

These schools are dotted around the city, ensuring you’re within easy reach of an excellent school, no matter where you choose to live.

Most schools in Cambridge offer a wide choice of subjects and most achieve good results in national exams. In addition, there are also a number of excellent private schools in Cambridge, with the Leys School and the Stephen Perse Foundation being two of the best known.

Parks

Green space is incredibly important for families with young, energetic children. Luckily for those living in Cambridge, the city offers a great choice of parks, countryside and other open spaces.

Right in the centre of Cambridge, you’ll find Parker’s Piece – a 25-acre park that’s great for riding bikes, playing games and having fun. Midsummer Common, Christ’s Pieces and Jesus Green are also located right in the middle of Cambridge. Further afield, you’ll find the beautiful Milton Country Park. This stunning spot is home to playgrounds, lakes, walking routes and a café, making for a fantastic day out.

Property

Housing is another important consideration for people moving to Cambridge with kids. As Cambridge is relatively small and quiet, most areas of the city are suitable for families.

If you want to be close to the train station, the Botanic Garden and a number of excellent schools, the south side of the city is a great choice.

Properties around Mill Road and Hills Road offer excellent access to local transport links as well as proximity to the city centre and a number of local attractions.

Attractions

Whether your kids are interested in the great outdoors, computers, animals, history or shopping, you’ll find plenty to keep them entertained in Cambridge.

The Cambridge Treasure Hunt Trail is a great way to get to know the city, while Hamerton Zoo and the Skylark Maize Maze are perfect for kids who love exploring.

If your little ones are more tech minded, head to the Centre for Computing History – and learn a little more about the evolution of their favourite devices.
