Turkish cuisine

As @TurkishCulturesays, ‘Turkish Cuisine is a very curious one. The variety of dishes that make up the Cuisine, the ways they all come together in feast-like meals, and the evident intricacy of each craft offer enough material for life-long study and enjoyment.“

Thanks to influences from Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean, the cuisine has a unique mix of dishes, ingredients and cooking styles. This gives Turkish food its famous variety and means there’s a dish to suit every palate.

The spread of Turkish cuisine

As people moved from Turkey to countries around the world, they took their cuisine with them. In the UK, you can find authentic Turkish food in towns and cities – from Cornwall to Scotland, with most high streets now home to at least one Turkish eatery.

As well as the kebabs and falafel that we’re all familiar with, it’s now easy to find a wide range of Turkish dishes in most corners of the country. If you’re in the mood for a feast, order yourself a mix of hot and cold mezze platters, a tasty pide or some freshly cooked kofte. Alternatively, if you want to go veggie, opt for tabbouleh, gozleme or delicious borek.
