List of freebies and discounts for NHS staff in Cambridge
The current COVID-19 pandemic is hard on all of us, but, as @MoneySavingExp says, “While everyone in the country’s doing their bit, it’s our NHS staff, emergency services, and healthcare workers who are on the front line.”
In order to help these key workers, show their appreciation, and make their lives as easy as possible, a number of major brands are offering discounts to NHS workers.
From food and drink to books, parking, and breakdown cover, doctors, nurses, porters, healthcare assistants, and everyone else working for the NHS can now take advantage of some fantastic offers. Here are some of our favourites.
Deliveroo
If you’re too tired to cook at the end of a long, hard shift, Deliveroo has the answer. The food delivery company is offering 50,000 free £20 meals to NHS staff. The deal will run until the 31st of May and is available across the UK.
Deliveroo works with a number of restaurants and cafes in and around Cambridge, giving you a great choice of meals and cuisines. If you don’t work for the NHS and want to support this great free meal offer, you can donate to the scheme via the Deliveroo website.
Costa
If you work in a hospital, you may already have enjoyed some free Costa food and drink. The coffee company has been delivering its canned, ready-to-drink coffees to hospitals across the UK and is providing meals and snacks to a number of key NHS facilities.
What’s more, when the chain closed its doors at the start of the lockdown, it donated a huge amount of surplus food and drinks to nursing homes, food banks, and NHS teams, and plans to continue donating to key workers throughout the crisis.
Just Eat
Like Deliveroo, Just Eat delivers takeaway food to households across the country. Until the 26th of April, the company is offering all NHS workers 25% off of the cost of their takeaway meal, making it a lot more affordable for key workers to stay fuelled up.
You can use the offer as many times you want, but you’ll need to get a new code for every meal using your NHS email address.
Car parking
Car parks across the UK are offering NHS workers free parking for the duration of lockdown. Free parking will make it easier for doctors, nurses, and other essential workers to get to their hospitals quickly, easily, and safely.
AA recovery
If you break down on the way to or from work, the AA will come out and get you for free. There’s a dedicated phone line for NHS staff and the offer is open to all hospital employees, including cleaners and porters. Simply show your NHS card to the patrol when they arrive and they’ll do their best to get you back on the road for free.
